The Beast

That , that one thing called fear,
Comes to you in the form of a tear,
Pulling you down,down and down,
And making you drown, drown and drown,
The worst part, is when you can’t avoid it,
And forces you to create your own void
Within, making you feel numb
and dumb, and leaves you benumbed,
It’s bad,worse and the worst,
Even if it somehow makes you come first,
Good when it lights up fire,
And lets you realise your own desire,
That time, when you are petrified
due to people, it is the most egregious,
For it’ll make the scenario even more serious,
Your appearance so woebegone,
All around gone,
With so much versatility it comes,
With so much dexterity it stays,
When you say,it’s hard, it doesn’t care
and hits you harder, that’s how it is,
So much enticement around,
It’s hard, damn hard,
Testing tolerance, patience,
Instilling diffidence and wariness,
Taking away happiness,
Slowly growing within,
Like a hushed but a brutal beast.

Aalia Mehreen Ahmed

26. MBA graduate. Self-proclaimed bibliophile. Cricket, chai, and superheroes get me excited. When I was in the eighth grade, my English teacher told me ''You write beautifully but you write too much!''. That was the day I met my arch-nemesis: word limit. I eventually lost a couple of marks because of it. That was also the day I decided I wanted to write (not quite sure about what though!) for as long as I lived...
